      DEVANTIER, Borge Otto
      91, (former resident of Belle River), passed away peacefully January 3, 2018 in Penetanguishene, Ontario. Born in Svendborg, Denmark to Otto and Asta Devantier on January 22, 1926, Borge immigrated to Newmarket, Ontario with his wife and young family in 1957, where he worked as an auto mechanic. In 1970, Borge took a position in the technical department at Belle River District High School. He loved teaching and spent 20 happy years in the auto shop, and as a driver's ed instructor and as a coach for the Nobles team handball and soccer teams, prior to his retirement in 1989. Borge is survived by his dear wife Edith, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage and five children Jan (Karen), Erik (Janine), Leif, Allan (Nathalie) and Yvonne (Holly). Borge was very proud of his thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and family and friends will gather for a memorial service in June 2018 at Sunset Villa, Puslinch, Ontario (details to follow). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
